He was born and lives in Lisbon. His work involves editorial illustration, visual performance and political cartooning. He has a degree in Communication Design from the Lisbon School of Fine Arts and a master’s degree in Theatre Design from the Slade School of Fine Art in London, where he received a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

He is the author of graphic novels, for which he won an award at the Amadora International Comics Festival. He has collaborated with various writers – Nuno Artur Silva, Rui Zink, Ondjaki and Mário de Carvalho – to create books in which text and image are related in an exploratory way. He has directed several plays. With Real-Time Digital Drawing and the manipulation of objects in Transparency Overhead Projectors, he has created several shows with musicians, actors and dancers in Portugal and around the world.

With the Subway Life project, he has toured cities on five continents drawing people in subway carriages. He published political cartoons in the pages of Inimigo Público (Público newspaper) for 18 years and was honored several times at the World Press Cartoon, seeing his drawings published in Le Monde, Courrier Internacional and in international collections. In 2014 he was awarded the National Illustration Prize (DGLB) for his work Uma Escuridão Bonita.
