Between July and November 2025, we held LATA 65 | Urban Art Workshop for Seniors in five parishes in Covilhã, decentralising our action and reaching out to this territory and these people who have cherished us so much during our visits.
In this initiative, which also democratises access to cultural creation, Sobral de S. Miguel, Tortosendo, Peraboa, Paul and Boidobra were the parishes where, over 10 sessions with a total of 68 elderly people and more than 400 kilometres travelled, 5 murals were created and around 300 stencils were produced.
As is our custom, the numbers (because they are curious) matter here too: of the 68 participants, 52 were women; the oldest participants were 101 years old and the average age (per group) was one of the highest in our history: 89 years.
The result is there for all to see: walls scattered throughout the vast territory of Covilhã, colourful to the max and filled with stencils created by each participant, which says a lot about where we were, but also about who we met.
This action in the parishes of Covilhã was only possible with the support of the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation in collaboration with BPI, through the Decentralised Social Initiative (ISD 2025), which was joined by entities from each of the parishes visited: Parish of Sobral de S. Miguel, Parish of Tortosendo, Don António – Senior Residence in Peraboa, Casa do Povo do Paul and Parish of Boidobra.
