Alice Neto de Sousa (b. 1993), is a poet, writer and lyricist born in Portugal, with roots in Angola. She has a degree and a Master’s in Psychomotor Rehabilitation, with an interest in social work, education and inclusion through the arts. Restless by nature in words and choices, she likes the freedom to think and feel.
Alice was a guest poet at the solemn opening of the official celebrations of the 50th anniversary of April 25th, where she presented the unpublished poem “March”. The manuscript of the poem was deposited in the “100 years of democracy” time capsule, a piece of cork that holds symbolic objects and will be opened on the 100th anniversary of April 25. The author of poems scattered in anthologies in Portugal and Brazil, in 2021 her poem “Terra” was named after the collection “Do que ainda nos sobra da guerra”, published by the Brazilian publisher Ipêamarelo. She also took part in the 20th edition of Flip – Paraty International Literary Festival – in Brazil in 2022.
She was a regular on the television program “Bem-Vindos” on RTP Africa (2021 to 2023) and Poet in Residence at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (2024). Her poems have appeared in the Lisbon newspaper Mensagem and she was part of the poets’ fellowship of the cultural association A Palavra. She is currently trying to “sharpen her tongue” for emerging social issues on stage through spoken word and poetry, most notably the poem “Poeta” , which since 2022 has conquered social networks and has flown around the world.
