Beatriz Pereira, born and raised in Ourém, is the patron saint of the act of “writeliving”. On a precipice between Beatriz and Maria, her pen comes to unravel a diary of colors, textures and discomforts. She summons melodies from fado, pop, bossa nova and popular song to condense them into a sound that is both down to earth and dreamy.

Since 2019, the project has performed more than 50 concerts, having played at festivals such as NOS Alive, Festival Para Gente Sentada, Festival dos Canais, FOLIO, Rádio Faneca and Bons Sons. It has also taken part in projects such as A Música Portuguesa a Gostar dela Própria or Porta253 and published the song Dissabor in the collection Novos Talentos FNAC 2019.

Bia Maria’s planned debut album, entitled “Anyone Can Sing”, marks the turning point between the sound environment in which she took her first steps – somewhere between popular singing, fado and bossa nova – and a new hunger for the world. From this emerges a whirlwind of ideas that contrasts with all the universes seen before.

The opening song “Micro-Nódulos” is an a cappella melody that develops over the course of the album into “Nódulos” with the participation of Sopa de Pedra, finally arriving at ‘Afonia’ – bringing together all the voices on the album – which reflects on the value of our voice and what a huge “weapon” it is for change. Throughout the album, all the songs are a reflection on fears, obstacles that come to the surface to be undone, hence the importance of bringing so many voices together. It thus builds a trilogy that connects the entire album, reflecting on the various problems that plague the artist.
