Between the 21st and 29th of June, Covilhã will once again be home to Urban Art, or rather, artistic creation in public space. Because the 12th edition of the oldest urban art festival in Portugal will feature a multidisciplinary programme of intense creation and occupation of public space, with the ambition of continuing to set an example of transforming the territory and the community through Art and Culture, continuing its mission of cultural decentralisation, inclusion and social and territorial cohesion.
At the heart of the WOOL 2025 programme is an ambition to foster “participation”. At a time when the world is plunged into conflict, violence and a growing indifference and individuality, more than ever we aim to affirm WOOL as a collective artistic project and manifest. A moment and space for participatory artistic creation, in its most diverse dimensions, disciplines and formats.
We stand by our conviction and experience that Art and Culture are essential to life. And, if Culture is in essence a community territory, we believe that it is in the involvement (and natural encounter) of all those who inhabit our territory, in an artistic practice and shared and participatory construction in a public space, that we can strengthen ourselves as a society.
